Ulterra becomes title sponsor of Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl’s Tailgate Outpost
FORT WORTH, Texas (Sept. 27, 2018) – Ulterra, one of the fastest growing drill bit companies in the world and a top market share leader in North America, has signed on as the title sponsor of the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl’s Tailgate Outpost.
The Ulterra Tailgate Outpost is a massive pre-game fan fest area free to the public. It will feature a full exhibition area including interactive displays, current and vintage military hardware, a beer garden, food trucks and more. Fun for all ages, the Ulterra Tailgate Outpost will be highlighted by a pre-game concert, along with pep rallies from both bowl teams.
“We are very excited to announce our partnership with Ulterra,” said Brant Ringler, executive director of the bowl. “The Tailgate Outpost has been such a popular place over the years, and now with Ulterra’s support, it will become even more enjoyable for both our past and present military service personnel and our fans in general.”
The tailgate will also include the Veterans Village presented by the American Red Cross. The Veterans Village consists of several dozen non-profit military organizations designed to help and provide assistance to armed forces veterans.
The 16th annual Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl will be played on Saturday, Dec. 22 at 2:30 p.m. CT. Pending eligibility, the game will feature teams from the Big 12 Conference and American Athletic Conference.
The Ulterra Tailgate Outpost will be open on game day from 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m., in Lot 3, located on the north side of TCU’s Amon G. Carter Stadium.
Tickets for the game are available for purchase at armedforcesbowl.com. Played in honor of the armed forces of the United States, it is the only collegiate football bowl game that has hosted all three U.S. Military Academy football teams – the U.S. Military Academy (2010, 2017), U.S. Air Force Academy (2007, 2008, 2009, 2012, 2015) and U.S. Naval Academy (2013, 2016).
The Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl has featured the “armed forces” theme since 2006. Patriotic overtones recognizing all five branches of service are prevalent throughout the game. Past Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowls have included displaying armed forces hardware; flyovers; demonstrations by several of the military's top skydiving teams; custom homes awarded to wounded warriors; on-field induction ceremonies; armed forces bands; and the annual Great American Patriot Award presented by Armed Forces Insurance.
The bowl game is also the originator of the Armed Forces Merit Award presented by the Football Writers Association of America. For additional information about the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl, please visit armedforcesbowl.com, Facebook.com/armedforcesbowl or Twitter.com/armedforcesbowl.
